...DerB was a gift from my parents for my birthday. I couldn't have ever asked for anything better -- I had begged for four years for my own horse. DerB has provided me with love, companionship, and taught me more than anyone or thing else. He has been the constant in my life through losing family and friends close to me, the death of animals, the divorce of my parents, moving houses, and losing touch with loved ones.
When I turned eight, my parents took me to the Ocala Arabian and Half Arabian Breeders' Show. I was going to ride one of my cousins' horses (they bred and raised Arabians) in the lead line show. I'd never had any formal training, so they put me on Der-B+/ and told me how to sit just before entering the ring. I was in heaven. As they called out the winners, the announcer said, "...first place goes to Sierra, on her new horse, Der-B+/!" I was holding the reins of my dream come to life.
